I live in a loft space on the second floor of a furniture factory in East Williamsburg. Our land lord is this amazing Lebanese man who has owned the building and produced this ornate hand-carved furniture here for 40 years. There is no shortage of wild stuff to look at.
We have finally started building our loft and everyone is in good spirits. Jed is the only one out of our foursome who has ever completed a project like this, so the rest of us have been excited to get dirty and learn what it takes to build a structurally sound second floor. Today we found the studs in the wall, measured and taped out our floor plan, cut and notched lumber using a chop saw, and began screwing everything together. It might not look like much, but it’s progress!
So my new apartment doesn’t have a bathroom, kitchen, or walls (yet) but my studio is already better than it was before!
I just made a bunch of cuffs that will soon be available for purchase at the Alexis Bittar soho store. I make them out of brass and the people at Bittar either have them plated or powder coated so they look real snazzy. Here are a few pics of me working on them.
We are moving! After 3.5 years in our beloved Greenpoint apartment my roommates and I decided it was time for an upgrade. We are moving our whole operation to a space in a furniture factory in industrial East Williamsburg.
